Coventry City allowed Swindon Town to go top of League One with a 3-0 loss.
A very wet and miserable day in Coventry, plus a visit from the Sky TV cameras and City charging normal admission prices meant that it was only hardcore season ticket holders and visiting supporters actually in the ground for the visit of high flying Swindon Town.
The Sky Blues, whose U21's lost 7-0 at Sheffield United this afternoon, needed a win to go tenth whilst Swindon needed victory by more than two clear goals to go top of of the table.
City had Andy Webster, Arron Martin, Gary Madine and Reda Johnson all available for this fixture, but Aaron Phillips was out with the knee injury he picked up during the win at Walsall.
Webster, Martin and Madine went straight back into the side against a Swindon Town side which had Nathan Thompson back in their defence.
The game against Chesterfield had seen a SISU Out protest and another was planned for tonight. However, there was no signs of any protesters out side the ground before we made our way in to an eerily empty stadium.
There was a "Sisu Out" chant from those under the scoreboard which now had its clock working, as the game got underway.
Both sides had chances in the opening five minutes but in the eighth minute, Swindon got down the left through Tollofo and crossed for Andy Williams to power a header past Allsop, whose loan expires on January 19th.
After a row between Andy Webster whose coming in for Jordan Willis annoyed many of the City support, which looked to be around the 5,500 mark and Allsop, Foderingham gathered a 12th minute free kick, Swindon had a penalty when Nouble brought down Thompson and Andy Williams easily scored.
As the rain came down and the Swindon support reminded us they were top of the league, Matt Smith missed a good chance firing wide of Allsop's right hand post.
Madine, wasted another good chance as Pressley and MacFarlane, who had been told by some of the support to sort it out, watched a 25th minute free kick come to nothing.
Michael Smith fired wide in the 26th minute from a Tollofo cross and eight minutes later, Webster was booked for kicking the ball away at a free kick which Allsop caught.
This was poor from a City side which was giving the ball away far to easily. One of those times was in the 38th minute when Nathan Byrne got through.
In the 43rd minute, a foul by Thompson who was booked gave City a free kick and then a corner.
City, who need at least seven more wins to stay up, were booed off at the break.
Less than two minutes in and with a large steward and police presence in front of the City support on block 15\16 and behind the goal at what was the North Stand, Nouble crossed and Conor Thomas got in a header on the line but headed the ball at Foderingham.
With Pressley looking like a drowned rat shouting instructions at players who were not looking at him, the SISU Out chants started as Jim O'Brien wasted a 58th minute free kick.
Fleck attacked but the Swindon defence were able to clear. Nouble came back and fired wide and then won a 62nd minute corner which again O'Brien sent over without any conviction.
In the 68th minute, Danny Swanson replaced O'Brien and went wide right in a game which was becoming tiresome and probably a good time for those watching in the pub to get a drink in.
Pennington headed over 73rd minute free kick and with ten minutes left, City sent on George Thomas and Mark Cooper sent on Jon Obika.
The third substitute for Swindon had been on for a matter of seconds when he was allowed space on the left to beat Allsop for a third.
"We're Sh+t And We're Sick Of It" sang the City fans as the stewards came down to the perimeter in increasing numbers to stop any pitch invasion and that message is the one that those running the club should be heeding and acting upon.
