CITY SUPPORT: The £15 for an adult ticket promotion certainly helped boost the crowd. Noisy in parts but neither sets of supporters had much to sing about  .

CITY TEAM
Andy Thorn kept the same team, which had started at Forest but made changes on the bench with Sammy Clingan, Nathan Cameron and Cody McDonald all on the bench after Thorn had decided to weaken the U18's team by pulling out Jordan Willis and then not giving him a place on the bench.

The worst win ever was how Coventry City's 1-0 win over Barnsley was described by one long standing City supporter and he made a good point as this was a truly awful game City got the points they needed.

On a very pleasant day at the Ricoh Arena, City attacked the CT Stand for the first half.

The opening period was a half of which the quality left a lot to be desired and started with Cyrus Christie winning a corner and Jim McNulty sendiing one across the area at the other end.

Alex Nimely was proving a handful and volleyed over in the 16th minute after Platt did well to win the ball in the air whilst being held, something he did well all game and then was denied a penalty when he was pulled down three minutes later.

The City fans were growing restless, urging movement from the players which never seemed to come as Platt was now being heavily marked every team he went for the ball.

Carl Baker, who was particularly ineffective, started to get barracked by the fans before Alex Nimely had two chances. His first in the 39th minute minute was a shot straight at Steele but seconds later he was set free and fired past the advancing Steele but the former City loanee keeper's left hand post as well.

In the 55th minute, there were ironic cheers when Andy Thorn took off Baker, who looked clearly upset by the reception afforded him and replaced the Scouser with David Bell.

Either side of a double change by Keith Hill, the City supporters found their voices and City through Nimely and Norwood had chances.

It was pretty poor stuff and although Luke Steele had made a couple of saves, there was not a lot for either set of supporters to cheer.

However, as we went into the first minute of stoppage and with both Doncaster and Forest both leading in their matches,, Jordan Clarke crossed from a Norwood and Clive Platt headed in, to spark mass scenes of delight amongst the City support.

McSheffrey hit the bar and was booked as City made Barnsley look the poor team they are, by taking the win and moving up to 22nd place in the Championship table.
