Tour De France 2011 Route Announced

The route of the 2011 Tour De France was unveiled at a press conference in Paris this morning.

More low key than normal due to the petrol strikes in the French capital, the route was announced and sees the race start in the Vendee region of France.

As expected gone is the opening day individual time trial which has been held in Rotterdam, Monaco and London recently, that has been put back until the penultimate day.

The full route which includes the Tourmalet and Alpe D'Huez climbs is as follows:
